About the Townland
In the south west of the townland is the site of a ringfort and nearby is Danesfort House, a substantial gentry house still inhabited. Jethro Hemsworth was occupying the house in the 1850’s and leasing from Henry Brunskill. In the west of the townland is a small pond known locally as “the marble hole” or marl hole, a man made pond or pool common in parts of Ireland.
