About the Townland
In the mid 1800s the landlord of this townland was Sir Thomas J. Burke of Marble Hill. In the early 1900s McAinsh operated a sawmill there using a light rail system to handle the large hardwoods that grew there. Kyleaglannawood is no longer inhabited and is now mostly a coniferous wood with a small percentage of native hardwoods. There is a good walking route around the wood with the road looping north and south of the Ross river.
